October Odyssey I
Maybe it is the cold yellow sunlight through the curtains on my windowsill reminding me of the warmth I felt in that dark room of yours.
It is January, and Elise is packing up to visit home next week. It has never come easy to her to organize the chaos that is her wardrobe and cherry pick a few clothings to carry. "But I may need to change twice a day if it rains..", she thinks to herself as if it's gonna be July till she's staying.
As she's pacing back and forth, trying to pack her life in a suitcase, her phone's ringing. ".. is it him? It should be him, please be him". She picks it up, disappointed.
"Hii Trent, how are you?!", she answers with high spirits, the ones which can make people uncomfortable these days.
"Let's hangout before you leave, I'm in the area", Trent says, casually.
Elise, although a little hesitant, agrees to the plan and Trent shows up at her apartment. They're both joined by her flatmate and start preparing the dinner together. Trent's working on the salad, Elise is heating up the broth and her flatmate, Reese, is incharge of the dessert which she will eventually order from a place nearby.
They wrap up dinner. Trent and Elise get up to do the dishes. Her phone chimes, and her face lits up. Trent asks, "Is it him?". Elise replies with a genuine smile, "Yes. He's asking when I'm leaving."
"But he should be knowing this if he ever has paid any attention to what you say."
"He knows I think, maybe he's just confirming incase he wants to swing by like you did."
As soon as she said this and looked back at her phone, the smile from her face faded which made Trent a little concerned, "What happened?"
"He said he's been busy, but he's meeting up with someone tonight."
"And that someone is not you, we both knew all this while. Come let's get dessert, it's just arrived."
