Twenty Four
I turned 24 and found myself
braiding my hair like you used to,
carefully messing it up for your kinda updo.
I turned 24 and caught myself
reading a book cause you used to like it too,
deciphering the words that would've meant
the most to you.
I turned 24 and discovered a part of me that longed
to see you & feel you the way I've known you to be;
in this new city, I met you again in a form
I've grown to adore too.
I turned 24 and cooked a meal
that reminded me of home in the way
I have known tranquility to be sitting and sipping
that evening cup of tea in the balcony.
I turned 24 and when I looked in the mirror,
I noticed my smile creased like yours in the symphony.
If by fate's design, the stars aligned
I will turn 25, a moment so alive
A piece of me, forever true
Will belong to you, as dreams come through.
